BT Tradespace Websites

I have been involved in setting up my own and several other BT Tradespace websites. In my opinion BT Tradespace could well be a B2B version of MySpace. The most recent client to set up a BT Tradespace website has been The Zetter hotel in Clerkenwell, London. The Zetter's site is called Hotels in London. The site is managed by Renay Logan.

Dublin hospitality

I'm in Dublin right now, having enjoyed an excellent day of travel and tourism.

I took the 15:45 flight from London Stansted with Ryanair. The plane arrived almost 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Cost of the flight - including all the Ryanair add-ons - was £56. Not bad.

Chef recruitment

Simply Clicks has taken on a short term brief to help with the recruitment of catering staff for The George in Rye. The George is one of the leading hotels in Rye, East Sussex. The George also has a restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is currently recruiting three staff; A Commis Chef, a Chef de Partie and a Junior Sous Chef. Details about the jobs can be found on the hotel's website.

This isn't the first time Simply Clicks has handled a recruitment project. Back in 2005, we helped US-based Shaw Group with engineering recruitment.

Bt Tradespace - Contact

I've just approved a comment posted by Alex Hawkinson who was part of the team that developed BT Tradespace. Alex seems very positive. He was responding to the posts I'd made regarding setting up BT Tradespace sites for Fastnet Finishing and MTM Drains, as well as for Simply Clicks.

I'll be encouraging more of my clients to take up the opportunity of creating a presence on BT Tradespace.

Influential SEOs Part 2

I've just noticed that the blog entry on influential SEOs has already impacted on the Google SERPs.

Search Engine Powered Marketing has achieved the No.1 ranking as at 5th May on both Google.com and Google.co.uk for the term "influential SEOs". If you click on the Google SERPs link you'll notice Google prompts with "Did you mean influential CEOs". That would be a little too ambitious.

I suspect the inclusion of links to the SEOMoz and V7N blogs had some impact. I will check out the progress from time to time.

Print Finishing site on BT Tradespace

I've helped set up another client on the BT Tradespace B2B community website. Fastnet Finishing have registered for the sub-domain of Print Finishing. In my opinion BT Tradespace has tremendous potential in online B2B marketing.

BT Tradespace - Septic Tank

I'm in the process of encouraging my SEO clients to sign up for BT Tradespace. This a new online trade community run by British Telecom. Rather like a MySpace for businesses. The first client to sign up successfully is MTM drains. MTM are septic tank specialists and have used the name Septic-Tank.bttradespace.com.

IT Directory - SEO

I've just been researching the SEO opportunities for directories. Many strike me as quite poor, with little presence on Google.

One directory style website that stands out is IT Professionals. The site has more than 650 of its pages indexed by both Google and Yahoo. One drawback is that your individual directory entry doesn't allow for an anchor text based link. The home page of the site is rated Google PageRank 5 and has been crawled within the last week.

Inluential SEOs

This morning I had a pleasant surprise. Checking my analytics, I noticed traffic from the US. The traffic derived from the V7N SEO blog. The blog author, Peter da Vanzo had included my name in a list alongside 4 of the most influential people in SEO.

The 4 influential SEOs are:

John Scott - Founder of V7N
Danny Sullivan - Of Search Engine Land
Barry Schwartz - Of Search Engine Round Table
Matt Cutts - Google's head of Anti-Spam

Pete had written the post in response to the debate regarding what constitutes illicit paid links. Google had recently announced a crack down and I, amongst many, had joined the debate on several SEO forums. I'm not a fan of paid links but they exist. And in my opinion, Google need to issue more definitive guidelines regarding the exact sort of links that will be ignored for PageRank purposes.

For a more comprehensive run down on the 10 most influential SEOs see this post by Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz. Sadly you won't see my name amongst them. But V7N is a start.
